THE SHIRE BOYS’ MONGOL RALLY – 19 JULY TO 30 AUGUST 2014
It’s busy busy busy if you’re a Shire Boy! Embassy visits, Mechanics 101 and driving theory tests are just some of their recent activities! In between they are keeping both their website and Facebook page up to date with all their exploits so be sure to check them out.
In the classic style of our lives, with less than 23 days until the car number plate and chassis number has to be supplied to obtain our visas and start the rally, we find ourselves with no vehicle.
…Unfortunately after extensive debate, we do believe the four geared Peugeot shall not get us to Germany, let alone Mongolia and back.
If anybody has a car or knows anybody that is selling a car please get in contact by either commenting below or emailing:
– Engine size up to 1.4L
– Under 80’000 Miles
The car will be loved.

Keep checking in for more updates as the planning of this challenge continues!
Three Wycliffe College contemporaries of Rob’s have signed up to the Mongol Rally 2014 to raise funds for Rob. George Mossman, Hugo Cooke and Jos Chillingworth will be taking on the challenge to travel from the UK to Mongolia in a 1 litre car!
According to those in the know the Mongol Rally is “10,000 miles of feral, unsupported adventuring chaos from the UK to Mongolia in cars the size of a lawnmower. It’s not clever, it’s not safe and we might not finish but it is the greatest adventure on the planet. Basically, The Mongol Rally is a 10,000 mile adventure from the UK through 21 different countries to Mongolia in cars your gran would drive.”
It sounds like an amazing experience and we wish them the best of luck with their planning.
We will be posting links to The Shire Boys’ Mongol Rally website and their donation page very soon!
