Helping Rob cope with Tetraplegia

The final lap

The session in the power chair with all that chin control had the same effect on Rob’s neck muscles as it would if anyone suddenly played squash for 2 hours having not played for 6 months! Rob needed more time on bed rest just to give his neck some down time for a few days after the demo. Rob had not realised how demanding it was going to be controlling the chair with his chin but anyway Rob said it was too much fun to care!
It really seems now that getting home is not far away. All equipment is in and tested and the spare bed next to Rob has been moved away to make space to pile the equipment up by him as it is checked off. Still time though to enjoy another BBQ with friends who travelled down to see him. When asked whether it was is a good BBQ

by one of the nurses Rob replied ” It was meat and beer so what else do you need?”

There is a story about the cake apparently from rowing days at Wycliffe- how many times can you ask someone who does not like chocolate if they want a Jaffa cake?
