Helping Rob cope with Tetraplegia

Heineken Cup Final at the Millennium stadium

On Thursday we decided to try and get tickets for the match and to our surprise we could get the necessary four – Rob, Dad and two support workers. As it was the first big trip out it was decided to make sure that we took the most experienced support worker – really lucky that he was prepared to give up his day off so in fact we ended up with a team of 3. This meant that one could look after the car after dropping us off in Cardiff as parking close to the stadium would be impossible. Wheels roll from home at 12 and safely in The Marriott for lunch by 2pm. Met up with Mike, San and Simon for a pre match drink (and to get our tickets which they had kindly picked up that morning for us).

A Toulon supporter, having made the trip from France, saw Rob without a scarf so decided to ensure that Rob would be a Toulon supporter by donating Rob his scarf. Amazing who else you bump into there! – good to be able to wish Stuart Lancaster all the best for England’s challenge against the All Blacks.

Dressed ready for what the Welsh heavens would throw at us it was off to the Millennium stadium just in time for kick off. Great seats by the 5 metre line and fantastic to be able to soak up the atmosphere and watch Jonny Wilkinson is his penultimate game. A good run back getting home at 9pm and very grateful  for the curry that was ready and waiting. Hopefully the first of many such trips.
