B&W EQUINE VETS’ RACE TO THE STONES – 19-20 JULY 2014
Congratulations to the team from B&W Equine Vets for completing the Race To The Stones.
The B&W Team successfully completed their 100km off-road ultra marathon and made it to the Stones. They ran all the way from Chinor, along The Ridgeway to Avebury stone circle.
It truly was a huge challenge and everyone had to dig deep both physically and mentally. The weather conditions weren’t kind for endurance running with heat and humidity on day 1 and heat with no shade on day 2. With between 20-25% of the field dropping out it’s amazing that all 7 of the team made it to the end and could still smile for a photo!
Not only did they all succeed but they have also exceeded their fund raising goal for Rob and still counting.
Well done to the entire team and thank you for supporting Cammpaign4Rob.
A team of 6 people from B&W Equine Vets are planning to take part in ‘Race to the Stones’ to raise money for Cammpaign4rob. As the son of one of their colleagues, Rob’s accident has sent huge ripples through the whole practice and raising money to help fund Rob’s on going care is something that is very close to the hearts of everyone who works for B&W.
‘Race to the Stones’ is a 100km ultra-marathon along ‘The Ridgeway’, one of UK’s oldest byways. The majority of the route is off road and takes in stunning scenery including Iron Age forts, ancient burial chambers and monuments as it passes from Chinor, in Buckinghamshire, to Avebury Stone Circle, near Swindon.
While all the members of the team ‘run a bit’ and try to stay fit only one of them has run over a marathon distance before. It’s going to be quite an undertaking but everyone is looking forward to the challenge. The team will race over 2 days completing 50k each day and camping overnight. They wont be alone- it’s a fully organised and supported race so hot showers, food and a tent each has been promised by the organisers!
The team have a Donation Page set up and would really appreciate any donations, big or small, to support them in this huge challenge.
