Helping Rob cope with Tetraplegia

BARTON END EQUESTRIAN CENTRE FAMILY FUN DAY – 26 MAY 2014

Here’s the press release on the Barton End Fun Day:

BARTON END EQUESTRIAN CENTRE: CHARITY FAMILY FUN DAY

Barton End Equestrian Centre held an amazing “Family Fun Day” on the late May Bank Holiday Monday, raising a fantastic £1,400 in aid of two charitable causes.

Musical Ride

£700 went to Scoo-B-Doo, supporting the Neonatal Unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in caring for sick and premature babies – a really vital service in the county.

And another £700 went to Cammpaign4Rob.  After playing for his local rugby team, Dursley RFC, Rob Camm (aged 20) was involved in a car accident which left him tetraplegic. Paralysed from the neck down, he will rely on a ventilator for his breathing for the rest of his life.  Cammpaign4Rob helps Rob access the specialist equipment that is absolutely vital for him to manage his life as positively as is possible.

At Barton End Equestrian Centre a crowd of over 200 families came to enjoy a vast array of events and activities, including pony rides and grooming, tractor rides, a gymkhana, two mini Grand Nationals, a Musical Ride display and much more!

Barton End proprietor Abby Cooke said: “We were delighted with the huge numbers of visitors.  The Barton End staff put in a great deal of work to make the event such a success in aid of charitable causes that mean so much.  Scoo-B-Doo does brilliant work, and is very important to us all.  And similarly we are proud to have raised £700 for Rob who we know well.”

Mike Camm, Rob’s uncle and fund-raising coordinator, said: “Huge thanks for supporting Cammpaign4Rob and congratulations to everyone involved in the Barton End Fun Day and to everyone who turned out to make the day such a brilliant success”.

Huge thanks again to everyone involved in the day and to all the people who turned out to support the event.

A good crowd to watch the 'Grand National'

A good crowd to watch the ‘Grand National’

Huge thanks and congratulations to everyone involved in the Barton End Fun Day.

There was plenty to see and do and the weather held off which was a bonus. There was a good crowd to watch the events including gymkhana games and a ‘grand national’ race – with only a small amount of good natured corner cutting!

There was also pony rides and grooming, tractor rides and bouncy castles to keep everyone entertained and there was certainly a wonderful atmosphere.

Thank you to everyone at Barton End Equestrian Centre for supporting Cammpaign4Rob and to everyone who turned out to make the day a success.
