Helping Rob cope with Tetraplegia

SmartNav gets a thorough testing

Rob made the most of his hour in his chair on Friday as Mick from Special Effect came and set up a laptop with SmartNav for Rob to try. Controlling the mouse with a dot on Rob’s head or a cap seemed to work well and will be really useful alongside the eyegaze for Rob’s future IT needs.

A strike under the control of SmartNav much to Rob's surprise!

Saturday’s time in the chair was put to good use also when meeting up with a group of friends for lunch in the day room but a shame to have to go back to bed in the early afternoon. Unfortunately Rob can only build up time in the chair by one hour a day. At least it was a good excuse to watch several episodes of Breaking Bad- a great DVD set that should not be missed.

On Monday as we start the search for the right car for Rob he tried out a Kia Sedona for size. The main thing that it showed is what it would be like to be a sardine if anyone else was also in the car! More to try next week.
