Helping Rob cope with Tetraplegia

Dressed ready to get into my chair

Seemed a very full day today, could not get in to the chair in the morning as Rob had to go for another CT scan – to check out a kidney stone this time. At least that meant that he could eat and drink as the collar that Rob has to wear when sitting in his chair makes swallowing difficult.Hopefully though some minor changes to the collar will mean swallowing will not be restricted to when lying in bed especially as Rob is aiming for 6 hours in the chair tomorrow. Yesterday made Rob realise how careful he has to be with his skin having got pressure blisters on his heels just from them resting in the same place on the chair straps for too long! Another first today was going to a patient education class-like being back at school!- Rob needs to attend 14 sessions to learn all about his care so that he can direct his carers in the future.
